The benefits of Cause and Effect are that it's written in such a way that it makes the reader carefully consider the chain of events. It leads the audience to ask their own questions which will create a bridge between the text and their own personal experiences. The structure of cause and effect make it easier to comprehend the writing.
A cause and effect paper can best be anlyzed by starting with the main idea of each paragraph, what is the center point? After you have identified the main idea then you can ask what teh effect was of that main idea.
I like the phrase "Makes the reader carefully consider the chain of events." It lets me picture the different Cause and Effect events like a chain. I can see myself editing my paper and trying to look at my paper like a chain, while trying to find the weak link.
